China, 2012. Street shots – 1st part

I have taken many shots during my China holidays in 2012 and sometimes I believe it is a pity not to show them in the internet. Especially because I went to a place like ChongQuing that it is quite out of the main touristic stream (not to be compared with Hong Kong or ShanGai), and thus, less known to the public, less discussed and, let’s say, “popular”: but, believe it or not, it has a lot of charm.

It is definitely worth to spend some time in checking my hard disk and edit some pictures that have been neglected so far.  And so, let’s start today with a first series. Here i will post some street shots, as the contrast between old and modern, poor and rich and sloppy and elegant is such so remarkable in the city.

The first picture here below shows  a woman carrying on some fruits, and this was a typical scene in the city, where you may see a lot of such walking-working persons around. No surprise so that i took so many of those shots.

Chongqing is a metropolis of more than 3 million people that cannot hide its agricultural background: it  incredibly developed  in the last 20 years when new lofty and shining  skyscrapers started to populate the skyline: but you may not see that thing in the neighbor area surrounding the downtown, where there are a lot of run-down quarters, untouched, witnesses of its past.

And here you see the contrast in the area just beside the elegant and modern downtown…

Other constant presence in the cityscapes are the huge avenues surronding the city centre, with tall skyscrapers always in the background

Often you see mothers carrying on shoulders their children, instead of with a buggy.
